GMS Edible Ingredients For EPE Foam
DMG/ GMS is a white or yellowish powder that is soluble in water and has a mild, fatty taste.
In the manufacturing of EPE foam, DMG is added to the polyethylene resin before it is processed into foam. The DMG acts as a nucleating agent, which means it promotes the formation of small bubbles in the foam during the expansion process. This results in a more uniform and consistent cell structure in the foam, which improves its cushioning properties and makes it more resistant to compression.
Using DMG in EPE foam can enhances the foam's resistance to moisture. DMG has hydrophobic properties, which means it repels water and prevents it from entering the foam. This is particularly important for packaging applications where the contents need to be protected from moisture damage.
